Esta es una copia de la carta que le he enviado a Mr Eric Eswin.
Dear Eric Eswin,
Please find below a description of the exactly events that happened during the 3 minutes that I had to set up my show before the stage competition. I know that they sound unbelievable but that was exactly the sequence of what happened:
1. I asked them the day before, to stop the air conditioner for my butterflies and the answer was NO, without an explanation or a simple- “Sorry, it is not possible” just NO. and that is FISM ….
2. I asked for 3 people to help me to set up my props. They said yes but nobody help me at the time of the performance, so I had to set-up the props by myself while I was completely loaded. Because that, one of the load on my jacket fell down and I could not prepare other thinks that I needed to do. If they had told me before that nobody would help me, I would have organised something, I thought they were professional. Big mistake.
3. They allowed a group of Koreans to go onto the stage to rehearse at the same time that I was preparing my props, it was my partner that had to tell them to leave, meanwhile, the only person of the back stage staff team on stage was looking at them doing nothing.
4. I asked to set one prop at front of the courting, the answer was:” you do it” I said that I could not bent down, the answer again was –“You do It “as a result I did feel the gimmick for sword trough the body separating from my shirt, making impossible for the sword to go through.
5. The lights went off living us on completely darkness. So I could not prepare and also my partner cut her leg trying to go inside the Base.
6. When I was about to repair the damage on my load caused by setting the props and bending down, and finish to get ready, Mr Martin Hanson came to me with a dead looking and told me to start NOW or I would be disqualified. 3 seconds later the courting was opening.
I will not mention the 2,800 Euros that I was asked for to use a projector (of course I did not used it) or the blackout in the middle of my last trick. Anybody can do a mistake...
This is not a complain, I know that nothing can be changed, but I feel that somebody should know about it to avoid similar situations on the future.
I believe that FISM need a professional team back stage that do not hesitate to do their job, help the contestants on their needs, understand and help to calm down the nerves of the contestants. Not to treat people the way they did, making everybody more nervous and without the minimum respect. With the exception of a lovely woman translator that was trying to help and do the job that the back stage team was not doing.
It is always said that you learn more from bad experience that from the good ones.
Gerhard Hessling, the Stage Director, his team and Mr Martin Hanson put me through H ell during those 3 minutes, I doubt we will ever be treated so incredibly badly on the future.
I know that many contestants, and even performers from the Gala shows, had problems with them and Mr Hanson but I am only talking for myself.
I went to FISM to enjoy my performance and to show my act. None of that was possible. Maybe next time….
Sincerely.
Alfonso Rios
